Makin' Hay
LYRICS - MAKIN' HAY
Cowboy Way
You ain't much on crowds but you're at home in a heard
You love the feel of good leather and the jingle in them spurs
And there are days that you wonder why you do what you do
But it's the torch that you were handed, not just the life style that you chose
Hot and tired and dusty, and cold to the bone
Through the wind and rain and lightning
Through the blowing snow
Sit tall in that saddle, yippi ti yi ya
You were born to carry on
So carry on the cowboy way
In the morning you'll cuss and swear you're getting old
But when you saddle up and leave that barn you'll be riding that new colt
You don't trade stock on wall street that ain't where you invest
You know your treasure lies over that next rise
Just keep on riding west
Hot and tired and dusty, and cold to the bone
Through the wind and rain and lightning
Through the blowing snow
Sit tall in that saddle, yippi ti yi ya
You were born to carry on
So carry on the cowboy way

Take Another Ride
8 year old back behind the feedlot
I got throwed by a horse named Buckshot
Got a bloody nose and a black eye
Well it dang near killed me but I took another ride
Senior year tearing down a back road
Still shifting gears when I felt that tire blow
I could't steer, oh but I could fly
Well it dang near killed me but I took another ride
Don't you know, don't you know, don't you know
Life's gonna be tough
So you got to roll with it, roll with it, roll
If you're every gonna live it up
Saddle up, take another ride
Now girl it's true, your hearts been busted
And you don't know who, who can be trusted
But don't be blue love ain't died
It's just waiting on me and you to take another ride
Don't you know, don't you know, don't you know
Life's gonna be tough
So you got to roll with it, roll with it, roll
If you're every gonna live it up
Saddle up, take another ride

Get Back In The Saddle
It was the short round at the Wilson County Fair
My fourth time to ride that rodeo
And I remember thinking as I was flying through the air
One more year and all I've got's a few more broken bones
Face down in the dust, feeling out of luck
That horse had kicked my butt,
But I got right back up
Life is a hard ride no matter where you sit
Sometimes I swear it would be easier to quit
But I've learned that hangin' on is only half the battle
When you get knocked down you gotta get back in the saddle
This red dirt ranch has kept my family name for years
Through the twisters and the dust bowls and the floods
And it was by the grace and god and grandad's blood sweat and tears
He found a way when everybody else had packed it up
With a stack of bills to pay and still no sign of rain
Well I know what Grandad'd say if he were standing here today
Life is a hard ride no matter where you sit
Sometimes I swear it would be easier to quit
But I've learned that hangin' on is only half the battle
When you get knocked down you gotta get back in the saddle
The next Wilson County Fair I drew a horse they just called "Mean"
And if you wonder how the ride went look what's holding up my jeans
Life is a hard ride no matter where you sit
Sometimes I swear it would be easier to quit
But I've learned that hangin' on is only half the battle
When you get knocked down you gotta get back in the saddle

#1 Fan
My baby's never released a record
Or been to Hollywood
Or made the big play
That won the big game
Nobody hounds her down a Kroger
For her autograph
But here in my heart she's a big star
She may never grace the cover of a magazine
But here at 1520 Stone Creek
That woman's everything
She's a sexy lady, mama to my babies
And I ain';t just her man
I'm her # 1 fan
She's complicated, sophisticated
And teaches Sunday school
Can drive a stick shift
While putting on her lipstick
She satisfies me, stands beside
But ain't nobody's fool
What ever "it" is, my baby's got "it"
She may never grace the cover of a magazine
But here at 1520 Stone Creek
That woman's everything
She's a sexy lady, mama to my babies
And I ain't just her man
I'm her # 1 fan
You may never get to meet her or even know her name
But if you asked me she belongs in the lovers hall of fame
She's a sexy lady, mama to my babies
And I ain't just her man
I'm her # 1 fan

Makin' Hay While The Sun Shines
I saw 4 senior ladies at the Dairy Queen
Laughing and giggling like they were 18 again
I could tell they were fresh from the beauty shop
Silver hair shining like spun cotton candy on top
When I walked by with my ice cream
I got tickled myself when one of them winked at me
They're makin' hay while the sun shines
Makin' the most of their time
Buckling down and working hard at living live
We're only here for a short while
So make hay while the sun shines
The evening sun starting to leave it's mark
I took a detour down through the park headed home
There were kids running round chasing fire flies
Mason jars opened as wide as the look in their eyes
Watching the sky turn shades of pink
Like a message from heaven it finally dawned on me
They're makin'; hay while the sun shines
Makin' the most of their time
Buckling down and working hard at living live
We're only here for a short while
So make hay while the sun shines
I know you're busy with a million things
But meet me out front on the porch swing
And relax and watch the stars fill the night sky
And make hay while the sun shines
And make the most of our time
Let's start buckling down, working hard a living live
We're only here for a short while
So make hay while the sun shines
